We need a fucking voice.

If it was possible, I’d kill myself, only to come back in about ten years when I’m ready to face the world.

Year books were handed out today. Since I always have to complain about something, I’ll complain about the year book. For one, it was titled “Come As You Are”. Regardless if it was an intentional relation to the Nirvana song “Come As You Are” or not, I believe the school is doing a disservice to Nirvana for even relating to them. Something else that bothered me, but didn’t surprise me because it is CCHS I’m talking about, 50 Cent and Avril were listed as the best new artists of this year. Granted the current state of the “music” industry is tattered and corrupt, but it’s pretty sad to consider them even mediocre, let alone the best new artists. If you know 50 Cent and Avril and are still wondering why I greatly dislike them, then you’re part of the problem.

I’m bored, so I’m going to tell you about my day. When I woke up this morning, my neck was incredibly stiff. While rubbing my neck to possibly get it lose, I noticed a strange lump on the left side of my neck. As the day progressed, the lump seemed to either get smaller, or go farther into my neck. I’m obviously freaked out by this, so when I go in to the doctors in about a month to get the second dose of a couple shots I’ve missed, I’m going to tell someone about it. Even if my neck is no longer stiff or I can no longer feel the lump. I’m guessing it’s either a disjointed muscle or bone, or either a cancerous growth or a tumor. It may very well be a cancerous growth, because I have been losing a small amount weight without much effort lately. Of course, I’m hoping that’s not the case though. During school I got a Mountain Dew from one of the vending machines. After having the drink for a couple periods, I decided to check under the cap to see if I had won anything. It said I won fifteen dollars. I’m either going to buy Cold’s newest album, since I have yet to buy it and wish to support them, or buy some weed. I’m a teenager, all teenagers are potheads. When I got home I found a big package from Bridget on the kitchen table. It has a bunch of good shit in there, so that helped make my day a little better. That’s about the extent of my day. Thanks for reading.

Since music is the most important thing to me, I decided to write about it. I mostly like music that is raw, full of emotion, and a prime example of the artists personality. Although, I do find myself listening to some bands that fall short of meeting those expectations completely, only because the majority of the music industry is so corrupt, leaving most artists dazed and afraid to fully express themselves in their music, that coming across bands like that are short and far between. The era of music I find myself getting into the most, only because I can relate the most to it, is real punk/grunge music. The “fuck it all” attitude evident in the majority of bands that could fall under this category clearly portray what I think self expression is. The guitars are simple and usually distorted, the drums are pounding, and the vocals can make a person feel like their life is being put on trial. A vocalist with a lot of singing ability is sometimes refreshing, but more times than not, I like to hear a band with a vocalist that can not sing at all. It adds a more down-to-earth feel to the music, and the singer usually pours out more than enough emotion to make up for it. I believe that’s one reason why Nirvana is so great, Kurt couldn’t sing, but it sounded like his vocal chords were tearing because of the dynamic emphasis he put into making the songs as powerful and full of emotion as he could. Also, Nirvana believed in simple song chords like punk, but with the power of intense melodies. I also like music that doesn’t give a shit who it offends, just as long as it says what it wants to, like political topics to just traditionally taboo topics like in The Velvet Underground’s “Heroin”. Music should be as less constrictive as it can possibly be, just because art is free, and music definitely is art. It shouldn’t change to fit someone else, which sadly punk fell victim to by branching to new wave/new punk rock. Some people blame Green Day for making punk commercial, but in my mind, Green Day tried to save true punk. The Talking Heads altered their style so they could merely get radio play, and when they were sheltered under a polished mainstream, several other bands soon followed. This happened way before Green Day was even formed. Besides being extremely fast and energetic, I like songs that are dreary and melodic, but still a big form of self expression. A band that clearly shows that is Cold. I like real instruments, lyrics with thought and meaning, and a style that refuses to conform, extreme guitar talent optional, although a great guitar riff is always a breath of fresh air. Fuck money, fuck fame. As long as a band stayed true to their own unique musical feel, and impacted someone’s life in some way, I believe they have succeeded, and all those involved can die with an eased mind. I’m open to all forms of music, as long as it sticks to my musical ideals. Pretty much, I just like music.

Xanga is boring me. I’m not sure how much longer I’ll be doing this. It’s getting aggravating filtering rambling and things I’d rather keep to myself. Here’s another prime example of my writing ability.

I’m hungry. A couple days ago in school, they were serving tuna subs. Several people were saying, “Don’t give me the tuna sub, I just want some tatter tots”. When the line shortened enough that it became my turn, I said “I would just like a tuna sub please”. Birds hushed their chirping. Angels began to sing. Pure light came from beneath me. When I was handed a tuna sub, all was right in the universe, and my recent increasing hunger for tuna subs had been temporarily satisfied. Now I’m hungry for a tuna sub again.
